There's no way the people involved there didn't know they were avoiding tax, I'd just love to know what's actually left for the treasury once the lawyers are done filling their pockets.

Heard a thing on the radio this morning. There were 1200 (one thousand two hundred) different schemes that HMRC have now decided are dodgy. One thousand two hundred. How utterly screwed up is the UK tax system if you can even come up with 1200 different ways to try to get out of paying tax?

Same report said HMRC are actually allowed to claw money back from people before the appeals had gone through. While I'm all for people paying tax that does seem 'a bit off.'

Yeah, the 90 days thing quoted sounds well dodgy too - some of these buggers owe millions :lol:

I wonder if its 1200 variations on the same "scam" not 1200 totally differnt ideas on how to avoid tax
