Hamas knows exactly the response it'll get from Israel, everybody does. It carries on anyway. Not to mention the people voted for Hamas. There will always be greater and horrific casualties on the Palestinian side and they do it all anyway.

if she wants to quit over something we have no control over, then, bye bye Warsi

just as a side note all the country’s in that area would, if they could, exterminate Israel
so Israel will use any and all means to survive and for that i will not condemn them ...

I wonder what we’ll lose from not having a Minister for Faith....

While I'm generally cynical about politicians *cough* I actually kind of applaud what she's done. She's looked at a government's policy and looked at her own.. principles, ethics, call it what you will - and decided the two are incompatible and therefore she can't be in the government any more. Frankly, bloody well done to her. I actually would much, much rather have people like that in government than some of the utter dickwits we do have who will spout the party line absolutely blindly and you can practically see in their eyes that they haven't bothered to think about what they're saying at all and probably never will, about anything.

Principles? In Politics? Is this something we should be ridiculing?

Wouldn't she be better to stay in the Government and try to change things/promote her views rather than say 'I don't like you, I'm not playing anymore.' If not then what's the point in being in Government. If you're just going to fall in line with whatever Dave says or quit then I'd argue you're not doing your job properly. Stay and fight to change things. But then that would probably be harder work and get far less media attention than just quitting and putting it all over Twitter.

I agree – unfortunately this conflict will never (well not in my lifetime and I hope to be here for another 50 ish years) end

This.

Spitting the dummy and walking out makes for good press for a day, but the old adage stands firm - A week is a long time in politics - so she'll be forgotten pretty quickly. She'd serve the cause better by staying put and kicking up a fuss - if she was willing to leave anyway, she wouldn't have to worry about being kicked out of the foreign office by the PM for being a naughty girl.

There's this thing all governments do - if you are in the cabinet, then you have to support it regardless of personal convictions. Right now, it seems that Cameron's rhetoric on such matters is pretty much the message from the government, certainly the Tory part of it - and it will be expected that this position is supported without question. Clearly if you feel so strongly that you can't support it, that it will be expected that you resign rather than go "off message".
