so do you?

Personally I tend not to (and now I have a new Weber BBQ definatly dont need to*)

The only time I have is when doing a very large party with only a standard BBQ and then have pre-cooked drumsticks (about 100 of them) so that I can just char them up on the BBQ

* On my Weber the night before last I did Baked spuds, Roast veg, Chicken and then cooked an apple pie all in the BBQ

I've been getting for over 30 years and I've never once been ill.

I actually did a workshop last year with Ade Matzek, 2 times grill world champion. That was very good and there is no way he would recommend pre cooking, everything has to be 100% fresh.

We store poultry away from other meats, properly warm the grill first and always test the food is cooked through before serving.

This must be for the benefit of the increasing number of numpties who wouldn't know what to do with a can of beans, yet feel compelled to chuck raw meat on an open grill as soon as the summer arrives.

Meh, Darwin FTW.

Certain things will be prepped but not cooked

Only thing is when I do it it's a large batch so everything goes into the oven to keep warm

If the coals run out I just start over or use the massive iron griddle we've got (also works in the rain)

Same here basically. If I'm cooking for only a few people it's easy to cook thoroughly on a BBQ. If it's a large group then it's quicker and easier to pre-cook in the oven and char on the BBQ later. Off course you have to take into account the type of BBQ as well, taking into account heat zones and hood etc.

If there is any issue here at all it is the knowledge of how to check when food is cooked, regardless of the cooking method, and that should be a part of the national curriculum.
