I went to Iceland (and please no freezer shop jokes ;) ) earlier in the year to see it (as I have wanted to go for some time) and to see the Northern Lights

Had a great time and its not overly expensive (still not cheap) but since the crash in 2008 the the currency has not fully recovered

I made it back without issue.
The volcanic activity did close a large portion of our trip down so hasty re-arrangements had to be made. (8+(

A couple of links for you below, the first is a live stream of the current lava flows and fissure eruptions that are taking place over there at the moment, the second is an article explaining how the current volcanic activity has expanded the country considerably in just the last week or so.
