Firstly, it's technically wrong for a patient to record without the doctor knowing. It's supposed to be inadmissable. Secondly, it sounds very much like attention seeking behaviour. There are patients who routinely turn up to A&E having "attempted" suicide by taking a few pills or cutting themselves. Never enough to do any actual harm. Wherever I've worked, there's been a consensus amongst staff that "if you're gonna do it, do it properly". We don't say it to patients. We just think it amongst ourselves. I don't know enough about the case but it could easily be an attention seeker. Thirdly, sick notes are for employment purposes, not for court appearances. The person who makes the decision as to whether someone is fit for trial/to give evidence is down to the magistrate, not the doctor. The most the doctor can do is write a factual letter (eg this person tells me they feel too anxious to give evidence and it is making them feel unwell. They have a history of xyz/on medication/have no history of xyz). This is non-NHS work and hence chargeable. |

Fourthly - the Doctor told her to go kill herself and look up on the internet if she needed tips. Attention seeking or not he's a [LIFTED] professional and has no business offering that kind of 'advice.' |

Nope and I concede that point. Shouldn't have said it even if they thought it. That's the problem - you're allowed to think whatever you want, but you must be careful with whatever you say. |
