Good, frigging scumbags appear to have handed a couple over just to curry favour. Jack Straw getting his collar felt is just a bonus (it'll never see him charged with anything).

So this man was never in the UK? Why can he sue here? Surely it's in the jurisdiction of a court in the country he was taken from.

while I'm in favour of the practice of rendition being got rid of and putting it up to public examination to the embarrassment of those in power is probably the best way to do that, I think the grounds for the case being heard in the UK sound incredibly tenuous.

It's possibly a truly unique case - I mean there was no way the above was going to stand, that's a sick joke. The appeal court said it was so grave it should be heard. They could possibly see every major body you can think of getting involved and kicked the live grenade away...
