Quote:
Colchester Hospital has declared a "major incident" following an inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

The hospital trust said the major incident is likely to last a week, and asked patients to visit Accident & Emergency only if they have a "serious or life-threatening condition".

The CQC raised "safeguarding concerns" following an inspection on Wednesday.

The closest A&E to Colchester is likely to be either in Ipswich or Chelmsford.

Is it just me or is that 'false advertising'?

A major incident implies there's been a train wreck or a plane crash or some form of 'major incident'.
They should be declaring 'low standards' or 'a [LIFTED] up'.

All trusts have to declare major incident when they reach 100% capacity - when you're so crammed, even the corridors are backed up with trolleys.

TBH this is what happens when you run hospitals at 90% capacity the whole time. There's no slack in the system so when there's a problems, it hits the system hard. Hospitals in France supposedly run at 50-60% capacity. It also means hospitals can't really deal with disasters like train accidents. There's supposed to be a contingency plan which involves makeshift wards etc.

If the corridors are jammed, then you are more than 100% full!
