It would appear that Andrew Mitchell isn't the only Tory who (allegedly) thinks he knows better about stuff:

That's fascinating Mr Mellor however I don't think any of them required you to pass 'the Knowledge' test did they or at the very least be driving round London on an almost daily basis for the last decade.

A secret recording in a cab? Why would anybody think to put a recording device in a cab? If it was for security/driver safety wouldn't it be a video?

Sounds a bit dodgy to me...

Thoughts, anyone?

My thinking as well. Given how many people discuss business in taxis, it might be a nice little earner for them on the side...

As far as I can tell the cabbie used his mobile to make the recording after Mellor kicked off.
Some cabs certainly do have CCTV fitted, no idea on the sound aspect of such systems though.
