Human rights is a push... but I've little doubt they're relatively emotionally sophisticated.

That excludes much more than chimps. Babies, Alzheimer's patients, the mentally disabled...
And self determination is only one human right among many.

The court should really have refused to hear the case, so it was a huge victory for these guys that they even got to present their arguments, and now their objective is probably to get their case heard by courts all the way up to the Supreme. The pro life brigade will presumably follow right behind them with a foetus rights case though.
