4 of France's most famous political comic writers have been killed in the attack. This is so f*cked.

Is this retribution from thin-skinned religious fanatics?

Ah. The religion of peace again. And these b@sta@rds are still at large at the moment. Hope they're dead soon.

Religion is completely irrelevant in the modern world. It is a relic of ancient times when people used "god" as an answer to things we now understand.

The sooner it is wiped off the face of the planet the better.

I don't care which "god" you believe in. In 2015 it is a complete farce to pretend that some higher being exists.

Ffs why do people continue to be so f*cking stupid.

I think for many it's an easy answer to 'enlightenment' or just wanting to be/feel part of something. I can't see that it's ever did anything but hold us back though.

There's nothing wrong in believing in whatever you believe in.

Just don't go killing people if they don't agree with you.

Here endeth the sermon.

I agree completely, but it's so embedded and twisted by so many that it continues to be an excuse for sliding backwards in every area we've made progress in. And I include some governments in that.

Yes - isn't it terrible when people think that their beliefs are the only ones that are allowed?

+1 I see what you did there

I'm still under shock that people were able to walk into an office in central Paris and kill half a dozen very famous journalists from the political scene. That just shouldn't happen in a democracy.

+1. Fog, just because you don't believe in a deity doesn't mean everyone else is wrong or shouldn't be allowed to believe in deities. That's just as narrow-minded as those who believe only their deity/belief/way of life is the right one.

I've long held the belief that even if you eradicated religion, there would still be wars, senseless killings, attacks on innocent civilians etc. So long as there is more than one human on the planet there will always be a difference of opinion and hence the potential for arguments, verbal fights which could escalate into the physical.

Indeed, shame on you, Oli, for expressing your beliefs!

Yes, but perhaps there would be less justification for some of those atrocities.

That the editor was under police protection at the time doesn't speak well for their (the police) competence.
