I assumed that.
Though as I've no interest in cosmetic surgery I've never bothered looking into the details, hence my ignorance.

Cosmetic surgery isn't something that is (meant to be) covered by the NHS and hence most surgeons aren't trained. There is no standard. It is entirely private and hence the skills cosmetic surgeons acquire are from private work.

I agree there should be standards in the same way there are for routine NHS operations.
