WTF? I don't know a single man who sits down to pee, excluding when on moving vehicles (coaches, trains etc).
It's certainly not a 'political issue' I've every heard being discussed here either?
Seriously, you can't put marble tiles on a toilet floor and expect them to stay in pristine condition long term.

In Germany don't you get things called Spooks that clip onto the toilet seat and then shout at you if you lift it?
Seems like a recipe for a widdled on seat to me but hey ho.

I thought the exact same thing. There are a few issues - we as humans were naturally designed to squat when voiding bladder or bowels. The fact that we stand up is more social than biological. If you stand, there's a "kink" in the urethra and so some urine gets trapped. This is why you have to "shake". If you squat/sit, the urethra straightens out and there's no kink.

The toilet seat up/down issue is something we resolved in our house long ago. I pee standing up but with the toilet seat down. I can aim very well. If there's any doubt, just do it in the sink. No need for flushing.

I sit to pee, when it is a normal, clean toilet - i.e. my toilet or a toilet from somebody I know has "clean" habits. If it is a public toilet, then I use the urinal, if I can.
