+1, the last one had good ideas but was all over the place.

He’s co-writing. The question in my mind is the abilities of the other writer. We know that Pegg could bring wit and a good deal of fan-boy pleasing stuff to the script, as well as being sympathetic to the original. I hope his role is more than advisory geek though.

Last I heard, that was the plan. Though a 5 year mission does really imply a TV series, not a single film.

Have you ever read J Michael Straczynski’s Star Trek reboot plan? It’s a PDF, and well worth the read. You get the idea that his Trek would be pretty well thought out from the off. http://bztv.typepad.com/newsviews/files ... Reboot.pdfSome interesting parallels with Babylon 5 here - especially the Minbari Caste system: | | | | Quote: The warrior, the priest, the doctor... Kirk Spock McCoy. Kirk, led by his emotions, knowing that in the end, they are what makes us human, what has pulled us across six thousand years of recorded history. A born leader who believes in passion, who will do what he must to avoid a fight, but will never back away from one. Spock, a split-personality, in denial of his human emotions, striving to hold on to the logic of Vulcan stoicism. Competent, powerful, centered, but with a hint of loneliness at his core. McCoy, the voice of wisdom, the healer, alternately humorous and cynical – the balance point between Spock and Kirk. The friend and confessor who everyone wants in their life. | | | | |
