Didn't he? I thought is was a famous quote. Or is it one of those famous misquotes?

According to the internet (big caveat) there's no record of him actually saying it before it became attributed to him, so I suspect not.

He did however famously get his autobiography amended after he argued the internet was a niche technology that would never amount to much.

To be honest, given the amount of research going into HIV, it wouldn't surprise me at all if we had a vaccine in 15 years. Whether the drug company that perfects it will allow it to be affordable enough to be used where it's actually most needed is another matter.

Well there's the thing. It's not really in a drug companies interest to actually cure something (or prevent infection) if the condition can be sucessfully managed for the rest of the patients life (or at least until the patent runs out anyway).

It will, but probably not until twenty years after it's gone on sale to rich countries/people.
