http://www.independent.co.uk/news/busin ... 94742.htmlPresumably it's the same 'pricing error' that affects all the different colours of laptops, cameras, fridges... Fcuk off, Argos. Just be honest and say the white doll sells more or whatever the real reason is.

When I looked, the white Nokia Lumia 1020 was 20€ cheaper than the black one...
When you look on Amazon, for example, the prices are all over the place, depending on colour. I would guess that it has something to do with popularity, either (cynical) the more popular ones are more expensive or (rational) the more popular ones are bought in larger numbers and get a bigger discount.
Bought a black Type Cover 3 for 109€ and a red one for 119€ last week.

It's chuffing obvious that one of them DOES sell more than the other, which is why one of them is cheaper than the other,. It's been the same with all of the various multicolour Apple products for years - if you were willing to accept one of the less popular colours, you could get away with paying a little less if you knew how to haggle. Same with cars - if you go into a car dealership and you know that blue cars of a particular model are the least popular, you can generally get a bit off the price if you're willing to go with a blue one. In the case of dolls I suspect it's more likely that, subliminally, parents prefer dolls that look like the child they've just had. As the majority of the UK population is caucasian, that means caucasian dolls are the most popular. Therefore automated stock control systems will cause the other ones to be priced cheaper. It's not racism, it's capitalism. The people who think this is at all related to racism are blithering idiots.

True. However, Argos and the like will always rush to make unnecessary amends rather than risk being tarred with that brush. They'd certainly have my respect if they stood their ground and called BS on the racism claims.

I bought a pair of shoes - the choices were brown or black - the black ones cost £10 more.

If I was buying them I'd find the white doll less desirable as it's the same doll but costs more.

That's because brown shoes are hideous.
