The fact Westminster is prepared to back it to the hilt (even going as far as incentives, otherwise known as bribes) makes me very suspicious to start with.

Given oil/gas is a major industry in Scotland, I'm surprised they'd ban it.
Bet you if they'd voted for independence and wanted the revenue they wouldn't ban it.

I'm not sure a lot of Scotland is suitable for fracking anyway. It's one thing drilling wells in a nice flat bit of England. It's quite another to try and drill them in place where you've got nothing that's on an angle of less than 30 degrees and pretty much everything is made of granite.

As long as you've got, say, 100m x 50m of flat ground to put the rig and equipment, you're fine. These days they can drill in any direction they want.
