The supposedly trained specialist units can't even be trusted with them, and now they're using terrorism as an excuse for a roll-out. People, many innocent, will die and nobody will ever have the balls to scrap the scheme, so many more will die needlessly.

It's a slippery slope from that to guns. Not needed in 99% of cases, and there's special units there for when it is.

Who do you thinks STILL going to come out of that worst? The idea terrorists would give a crap is literally laughable. Apart from the fact some of them are on a death wish anyway, the rest are going to know the police have tazers and will dress accordingly - I've seen tests that show you can defeat a taser shot by wearing leather jacket with tinfoil pinned to the inside, let alone the equipment actual terrorists will be able to get hold of.

The bald fact is by the time police and armed terrorists meet, chances are several members of the public will already be dead and therefore (properly) armed response is entirely justified. Lee Rigby would not have been saved if the police who met the people who killed him had had tazers. The police in the Paris shooting were armed with proper guns yet they were all killed.

We all know what this is. This is the police wanting more and more extreme measures to control the general population because the police have become increasingly militarised in it's thinking and therefore the use of force has increasingly become the default option.

This by the way is from the police officer who also is campaigning against all police having to wear cameras.
