http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-31070115That's got me wondering if/how many women were convicted around the time.

Was it one of those daft things where the bible said something about a 'man lying with a man', so women got off? Sounds like the sort of thing you hear on a daily basis from pastors in the USA......... Mr long legged mac daddy.

I think this was mentioned before because of Turing. Pardoning them is all a bit too late. What happened was a reflection of morals, ethics and law of the time. How far back are they planning to go?

We've pardoned WW1 'deserters' so I'm OK with this considering we were still idiotic decades later.

There was also something about Queen Victoria not being able to imagine that a woman could have sex with another woman, so no law against it... I don't know if that is an old wives tale.

Sounds like the bloke who wrote the bible was partial to a bit of girl on girl. The Queen Victoria thing isn't accurate - the legislators who sought to criminalise same sex relationships thought that to include lesbianism would simply draw more attention to it - like it was a bloody club for people to join.

Then why did they criminalise it for men? Surely the effect would be the same.
