Britain's Most Desired Jobs

I am quiet heartened by the results, although I'd like astronaut to be higher.

I'm a bit surprised at the miners and call centre workers!

One is almost extinct and the other gets verbal abuse and hung up on all day, and you're surprised?

My eldest has expressed an interest in writing as a career. Whether that means journalist or novelist I'm not sure, but then neither is he.

That would be what I'm surprised about!

Surprised architect or engineer didn't make it in at all. I think it really shows how little interest people have for how stuff works.
Also accountant? Estate agent? Really?

I imagine that people associate Accountancy and Estate Agents with relatively high pay (or flash cars at any rate) which may explain a few things.

As for how stuff works, I agree. Where were the scientific jobs (excluding astronaut)? I hope they weren't all lumped together as academic.
Also, I can get Author but Librarian seems a bit odd for number 2.
