It's the Lee Rigby case all over again - not only were they previously tracking and 'lost' him, they seem to have hounded him for recruitment until he actually became a full-blown terrorist. But never mind, it all must just be a coincidence.

Depending on the job they want them to do security services do sometimes recruit people who are, shall we say, a bit unhinged. That particular thriller trope isn't completely unfounded. In this case the guy is plainly off his rocker, so the idea they nagged him so much that despite being a perfectly normal person beforehand he decided to go to Libya and start beheading innocent people is actually pretty absurd looking at it objectively. Apart from the fact it's also basically trying to absolve him of responsibility for his actions which is pretty insulting to his victims.

He's mad, he kills people, he deserves to be punished for doing so. Everything else is just deckchairs on the titanic.

That's just it, over here they had their pick of murderous scum but they used socio not psychopaths. And they're still at it with MI5 taking primacy. Successfully too; arrests and seizures every month. So what the hell's going on in England? And how many more people that are are on watchlists are gonna be allowed to get flights or disappear in a crowd?

Oh, ffs, 'heroes' must be the new media term. Davis is right, using them as an 'in' is clearly lethal - we're not even tracking them properly in London where all our resources are, never mind degraded-security airports.

So they've likely known who he was since 2007, repeatedly tried to recruit him years even after that, likely pushing him further down the rabbit hole... And then apparently lost all track of him, even when he showed up at various airports and they continued to question and try to recruit him. Year after year for the best part of a decade. Yeah.

Woah, woah, hold on a sec here. The only evidence that the security services harassed him or attempted to recruit him has come from his own mouth. Nobody has corroborated anything he's said. This is man who decapitates innocent people, films it and sticks the footage up on youtube. Do you really think it's a good idea to trust his word as gospel, for any number of possible reasons?
