Quote:
Social workers were found to describe the issues as being lifestyle choices by some of the children and young people concerned

Because being abused is a choice people make, right? WTF?!?!?

This. A million times this. Being a victim of abuse is no more a choice than being hit by a car.

Reminds me of this:

Blaming the victim for the actions of the rapists.

Nothing more than devil's advocacy, and I shall don my flame-proof jacket, but aren't they saying if it is your lifestyle choice to play on the road, you're more likely to be a victim of a road accident?

Which, I assume, means they are suggesting that some of the victims of abuse put themselves at greater risk because of their lifestyle choices.

It's a disturbing thought that some in the social services might see that as a f***ed-up justification for what happened to some victims.

I'm not sure, legally or ethically, we consider children able to make 'lifestyle choices'.

Indeed. Somebody needs the error of their ways pointing out to them forcefully.
