That's all happening about 100 yards from my office :D.

Where is the graphene in the bulb? I can't imagine it would be much good as the lighting element? How does it work?

From the article it seems to be a coating on the LED light source. It seems having a graphene coating on the LED makes it last longer. I'm not sure how a graphene coating would make it shine any brighter (or have the same brightness with less power usage for that matter). Graphene is a very good conductor of electricity, but a coating doesn't conduct.

To be honest, given the physical properties of graphene and how tricky it currently is to make in bulk, this seems a pretty poor application of it to be honest.

I was thinking the same. It's a bit of an exploratory, gimmicky use.

Unless they are able to exploit the strength and conductivity to prolong the life of existing LEDs.

As a conductor though it wouldn't bag an eyelid at the electricity passed through it and certainly wouldn't emit light at lows electricity levels. I don't think anyway.

To say this high tech has only been around ten years, I think it's good that it's being used in commercial products already. Some tech takes decades to get to market.
