Pah! The UK has it relatively good. We get under 20€ for food per day (breakfast, lunch, supper) when we are working away, and that is pro-rata, so if I am only away for 8 hours, I only get around 7€. |

My first job had £3 breakfast, £5 lunch and £12 dinner. You got that regard less of how much or little you spent. My last job was up to £25 per day with receipts. No idea what my new job will be, if anything at all. |

this is what my company says: Breakfast (before 10AM) : • Breakfast at an airport - £10 • Breakfast elsewhere - £8 Dinner (between 7pm and 12pm): • Dinner - £25 Lunch: • Lunch expenses when travelling overseas are claimable only with the written prior agreement of the respective authoriser (budget holder). • Lunch expenses when in the UK (including other offices) remains the responsibility of the employee. Other drinks, snacks and general items: • All other subsistence remains the responsibility of the employee whilst in the UK. This includes the purchase of cold drinks, coffee, bottled water etc outside of the meal allowances outlined above. |

No set limit here other than for lunch costs (up to £4.25) although the policy was written in 2011. The company will reimburse reasonable costs of breakfast and dinner when staying away from home, including a reasonable level of refreshments (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) with an evening meal. You may also claim a reasonable amount to cover the cost of non-alcoholic refreshment during the day. The end decision rests with the budget holder of the department sending you as they have to sign off your expenses claim form (and you do need receipts for everything) so what constitutes 'reasonable' may be up for grabs. On my last (and only in about the last 10 years) off site excursion I was apparently a very cheap date as my total subsistence expenses excluding the hotel were under £25 for 2 days. As long as you don't take the piss I don't think they're too bothered. It probably helps that the budget holder for my department regularly stays in hotels becuase she's covering two sites some distance apart so she has a good idea of what she considers reasonable expenses. |

We get breakfast included with a hotel stay (£8) & £25 a night for an evening meal (providing you're staying overnight, no dinner if you're working in to the night with no hotel stay). No lunch or other allowance |

If travelling before 7am then breakfast is £5 if travelling after 7am then your usual arrangements at no expense to the company If you are away from the office for 68 hours and not at another brand then lunch is £5 otherwise make your usual arrangements at no expense to the company If you are later home than 8pm or staying away overnight then dinner is £20. I travel away on business quite regularly and never have any trouble staying in budget. |

we dot get a £50 allowance if staying with family/friends rather than hotel
