This whole thing seemed very familiar, then I remembered I had watched Salamander on BBC 4 last year as part of their European with subtitles strand (this was a Belgian production set mostly in Brussels). The series started with a break in to a private bank’s vault, via the sewers, and specific deposit boxes were raided. Some rather high ranking people were targeted, some even committed suicide. Turned out to be a whole WWII Nazi secret kind of thing. |

Yeah, it's also the plot of a Denzil Washington film I watched over the weekend. I think Called 'The Insider' or some such. I think TBH the chances of it being any juicy conspiracy theory stuff in the boxes is less than it just being a massive pile of valuables that people have bought as a form of investment then put away 'somewhere safe' until they could cash them in. with of course now obviously someone else will be doing instead (admittedly at less than market rate). |
