The Tories won’t say where they plan to make cuts - which tells us that either they themselves don’t know, OR they do know and it will be damaging to their election prospects. Either way, lack of transparency looks rather iffy to me.
My father in law has an interesting theory (and he’s a rampant Tory supporter too) which is this - the overall strategy for each party is not to win - but to lose. Why? The mess is far worse than we are being led to believe, it’s possibly worsened in the last five years, and no one wants to commit political suicide over having to deal with it. The Tories know what the real picture is, as do the Lib Dems, and Labour are smelling a smell they don’t like. So a hung parliament is, in fact, the desired goal.
