Why not? He gets to claim to be tough while nobody really checks the details (PFI, the real scale of tax avoidance and income, privatisation, the sale of assets). Unfortunately the little turd's playing a blinder.

What is it with the Tories and their love for Victorian times? John Major had his “Victorian Family Values” stint. Cameron goes on about the “dignity of work” (a good old Victorian phrase if ever I heard one). Now this. So, kids up chimneys, health and safety at limb amputation levels, grinding poverty and growing slums. They’ll be trying to grab the empire back next.

I don't think they're even that self-aware. It's just basic jealousy and greed.

They'd need to do some serious increases in the MOD's budget for that which I suspect would push them well over the limit for running a budget surplus unless they, oh I don't know, privatised the NHS to free up some much needed cash. :)

All of these so very in sync statements happening at the same time is just a massive coincidence. You plebs.

What's the point of hasher sentences if you never bloody prosecute anybody?

To create the illusion of having done something.

At first glance it sounds reasonable......
Then you look at the practicalities and realise it's unworkable.

Are they bringing back the workhouses?
oh wait, didn't they say people should work for basic benefits?

Almost - Turn benefits into repayable loan, says Tory group

F*ing hell. If AND ONLY if I can also count my taxes as a repayable loan.
