What a coincidence this story should appear now when the government's trying to sell it's snooping charter again. I wonder what sort of puppet they'll replace Rifkind with n'all... Their usual puppets are clearly still active in the press; since when has the mainstream media been so excited about Snowden ffs? The Beeb especially has been remarkably quiet about Snowden up to now.

Considering what Snowden leaked was available to hundreds if not thousands of security force members and backroom staff around the world, I hardly think it was that secure to start with or seemingly treated with the importance it apparently deserved.

The thing is - if the Russians or Chinese were able to actually decrypt the files, Snowdon isn't to blame, they are. There are encryption schemes open to the general public that would take all the computing power in the world until long after the sun goes out to break, what the heck are the intelligence services doing using stuff that can be cracked in, well, a year or two? Either the scheme they used was crap or the keys they used were crap, and neither of those things are Snowdon's fault.
