Quote:
Advertising billboards thought to be from the 1920s discovered behind a modern hoarding should be preserved "for all to see", a blogger has said.

The posters were uncovered in Clacton, Essex, earlier this week.

Danny Sloggett, 40, spotted the retro signs in Meredith Road and now wants to ensure they do not end up hidden away again.

sadly, we cannot preserve everything, otherwise the country will become a museum rather than a living place. Same way not all buildings are listed.

Sometimes photos are enough to keep the memory alive.

The essential fact is that they have only been preserved because they were covered over.

I think they're more visually interesting than what you normally see in the street. Any street.

And I'm no hipster

I expect that they have been painted by hand. That's a declining skill, and there are places where this kind of thing is preserved.
