Anger after Harriet Harman says Labour will not vote against welfare bill | Politics | The Guardian
http://www.theguardian.com/politics/201 ... ax-credits

You'd think she might have mentioned all this to the candidates. Unless they were happy to watch her make an idiot of herself. As usual. She's right about tactically voting, but that's about it. Playing along with the Tories, who just got away with the scummiest budget in decades, hoping to land a few lucky punches... what planet is she on? What's the point of being Tory-Lite?

I suspect at least part of it is trying to take some of the wind out of Corbyns sails as he's looking like doing rather better that the Tory lite brigade thought he would.

I know a great many people who would be quite happy for the Tory lite part of the labour party to be beset with canon on both sides.

And no poems or songs afterwards, either.

Utterly hilarious. The labour party is spending all it's time chasing a section of voters they can never convince and in the process alienating a section the voters who might actually have some sympathy for them. If they carry on like this in five years they'll be as irrelevant as the lib dems.

I always thought Harman was a blithering idiot, now I think I was being too kind to her.

Liz Kendall backs Harriet Harman in Labour welfare row | Politics | The Guardian
http://www.theguardian.com/politics/201 ... elfare-row

Cooper seems to be one of the few women with a clue in Labour, the other notables quite often set back the cause of the feminism they espouse (Abbott, Harman, Kendall) with sheer stupidity in all areas.

She can't even rely on George not to twist the knife... I'd guess Harman is about to become the new battleground one way or another before the leadership contest.

If George [LIFTED] Osborne thinks what you're doing is a good idea, you know you're on the wrong track.

Andy Burnham's Facebook page this morning is hilarious. Rarely have I seen someone get such a verbal kicking.

He's made it even worse by claiming he opposed the bill, when in fact he voted in favour of the opposition amendment but abstained on the vote for the bill itself. Needless to say, people aren't seeing that as 'opposing' in any useful way at all.

I am... genuinely amazed that none of the leadership candidates (other than Corbyn, who would have voted against regardless of the leadership election) seemed to understand how much of their support would be utterly livid about them abstaining. I can't imagine how they've got so disconnected from the people who vote for them and got so fixated on the people who didn't and probably never would. It's one of the biggest, most stark political miscalculations I've ever seen. It's right up there with John Major's 'Back to Basics' misfire.

If this carries on the party conference is going to be an absolute bloodbath.

I'm not even clear on how they made Harman caretaker ffs - I'd guess they were following her lead 'til they saw the headlines. But it's exposed most of them at least.
