Mozilla has blocked all versions of Adobe Flash in its Firefox browser, dealing another major blow to the much-maligned platform.

The company's support team said Flash would remain blocked until "Adobe releases a version which isn't being actively exploited by a publicly known vulnerabilities".

Ah, that would explain me being asked if I wanted to use an outdated plug-in... But surely it only works if you've bothered to update Firefox? Haven't read the link yet as I'm on my phone/watching Suits...

It is blocked, because there is currently no version that isn't vulnerable.

That said, I blocked it in IE in January and deinstalled it for Firefox.

On a support page Mozilla told users it had blocked Flash for their "protection". "The problematic add-on or plugin will be automatically dibbled and no longer usable", the firm explained.

As of today, I'm still getting asked and I can still use it and get the browser to remember my selection :?

Kill it, it's the internet equivalent of DDT.

I have been waiting for the death of Flash for years. It's outlived any usefulness by quite a margin.

I haven't forgiven Adobe for killing Freehand when they bought Macromedia for Flash. It's only now there are viable Illustrator alternatives making headway. My Adobe antipathy means I refuse to adopt Lightroom, so I am still patiently waiting for a viable replacement for Apple's Aperture.

The 'develop' mode of Affinity Photo looks interesting but it lacks any sort of image organisation/classification system, sadly.

Flash is utter sh1t, but too many websites haven't got a handle on the alternatives, that's the major problem. Otherwise it could fcuk off and just be a nasty memory.

I've seen a lot of good words about the Affinity family of products. But I am not really after a Photoshop replacement. I need the file management as well as RAW development. Capture One is a likely candidate, and there's something called Dark Table (geddit?) which might also serve. I just need to download and try them.
