Ripping Music And Films Illegal Again After High Court Overturns New LawI can think of few things more stupid than a law that criminalises a large majority of the people who are subject to it.

Here ripping (most) CDs is legal, but ripping films is illegal.
As long as there is no copy protection you can make a copy, if there is copy protection it is illegal. That means VHS, DVD and Blu-Ray (as well as Netflix and Co.) cannot be copied.
The music producers did try putting copy protection on CDs over here, but it was very short lived, the CDs with protection failed to sell (people were actually reading the small print on them) and they pretty much disappeared again.

I still buy CD's and rip them. The companies are still getting my money, what's their problem?
