It's 1,400 light years away. Unless we find a method of travel that completely transcends any law of physics we currently believe to be true, we're never getting there. Plus the story I read said the gravity would be roughly 2g, so even if we did get there we'd find a lot of problems living there and even more problems ever getting off it again. We could possibly survive in low orbit facilities using the planet to grow food and for resources.

Yeah, but if we develop the technology to travel 1400 ly in a meaningful space of time the something as piddling as gravity probably won't be a major problem. :D
