I don't want Scotland to leave, but at least he's upfront about where he stands and is a fighter.

He's also utterly wrong when he says it's up to Nicola Sturgeon, it isn't. The SNP can put the fact they're going to demand a new referendum in their Scottish parliament election manifesto, that's fine. They can do that. But if they say they're going to have one, it's an outright lie. A referendum can only take place with the agreement of both the Scottish and UK parliament and I don't see ANY of the major UK parties supporting a new referendum any time soon, because we've only just had one and it will make them look incredibly weak to the English electorate. Why would they do that? The conservatives are perfectly happy with the situation as it is and they're in power for the next five years. That means it's at least five years before anybody will even discuss the notion of a Scottish referendum with the SNP.

Here's how it will go, practically.

SNP : "We will demand a referendum if we get an majority of MSPs!"
<SNP get a majority>
Nicola : "David, We want another referendum, we have a mandate from Scotland!"
David : "<Thinks>.... Nah!"
Nicola : "But we said.."
DAvid : "Sorry, not my problem."

And that's it. In fact, it would be in the SNPs interests NOT to promise another referendum just yet because if they make a big play of getting one then fail to do so it'll puncture their balloon in very short order.

I think another referendum is probably inevitable, as is Scottish independence at some point. However I don't think it's going to be any time soon, possibly not for 25 or 30 years.

I'm at the point now where I hope they do leave. The SNP seem happy to dispute Westminster on English only stuff for the same of causing grief.
