Hmmm.

Heard about this earlier, seems very odd. Breastfeeding mums get enough grief as it is to not need to start making stuff up as well. At a guess, I'd say there may well be a significant case of post-natal depression going on here.

Post natal depression doesn't generally make you (apparently) do something to massively draw attention to yourself.

The cynic in me thinks it was her seeing ££ signs (Story, suing etc) rather than anything else

The story is so light on detail, it just mentions the breast feeding, but doesn't mention why she is being charged with perverting the course of public justice.

That usually means lying in a police witness statement or telling porkies to the police in order for them to follow a certain (wrong) line of investigation. Which would be the case if she reported the security guard's actions to the police (or if Primark involved the police, her witness statement), saying he forcefully removed the baby from her breast, when in fact, he asked her to cover up and escorted her out of the building without touching the baby.

If she was just lying on Facebook, then it would surely be slander, not attempting to pervert the course of justice?

It seems all of the facts in the actual story have been left out and just breasts and baby left in... :?

It would be libel rather than slander, but that's a technicality.

My understanding is that the police became involved at some point quite early on (it's potentially technically a kidnapping case if it had been true), and I'd have expected basic witness statements to be the first thing they take, along side obtaining the CCTV footage.

But that is what I mean, the story is about her being charged with attempting to pervert the cause of justice, but no grounds are given for why those charges are being brought, just arrest, boobies, baby... The reporter seems to have gotten sidetracked by the breast feeding and ignored the actual story.

This is the original story
Quote:
Caroline Starmer said on Facebook the security guard at the Leicester store told her if she wanted her daughter "I was to come and get her".

so the police probably got involved as as stated above they might treat it as "kidnapping"
