ITV CEO on BBC: "More Distinctive" Should Be the Goal - Hollywood Reporter - Hollywood Reporter
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/i ... ive-811454

Quote:
ITV CEO Adam Crozier on Tuesday said the BBC needs to be "more distinctive" and should "act more as an enabler and a partner to the commercial sector rather than a competitor."

That apparent contradiction really means he'd like it to cut itself off at the knees. And he's full of contradictions

Quote:
Later in the call, Crozier got another question about what the BBC's mandate should be. "The BBC of all parties…should be focusing more of its money on new and original programming, not on constantly rerunning things," he said. "And in truth, their performance on that is broadly in line with the rest of the market, when in fact they should be way in advance of the rest of the market. I think that’s something that needs to be addressed."

Completely contradicting what he said a few months ago when his own ratings were down

You may remember him as the man who crippled Royal Mail, enabling it to be sold off while he was paid millions.

What the wailing christ is 'an enabler to the commercial sector?" The best read I can come up with for that is 'you take all the risks and if anybody you give a start to turns out to be talented and/or popular you then let us poach them away for buttons so we can milk them for as much commercial gain as possible while taking the hit on anything that fails'.

In which case the answer is surely 'piss off and do your own talent development you unscrupulous bastards''

Isn't Crozier one of those "professional" CEO's who jumps from drowning ship to buoyant time after time?

Prior to ITV, he used to be in charge of the Post Office. If that has since been sold off at way too low a price, then he must have converted it into a profitable entity. Do you think it has?
