Quote:
A homemade gadget can disable the systems that allow self-driving cars to see where they are going, a security researcher has said.

Jonathan Petit demonstrated how a modified, low-cost laser could create ghostlike objects in the path of autonomous cars.

The cars slowed down to avoid hitting them.

The same happens to human driven cars, only it does permanent harm to the driver's eyesight... :?

No, they use scattering flares to distract them. You'd never be able to keep a laser correctly trained on a missile seeker head in a combat situation.

Flares for heat seeking, might work with radar guided though, blind the radar, no target, but probably easier to send out radar noise.
