So we're even whitewashing Commons history from the last few years now... The diplomacy between East and West must be staggering at the moment if they're in anyway serious about making Assad a bit-player in Syria. The East must be demanding all sorts because it can't lose either way.

Yup, that's right folks - we can't afford to help disabled people, we can't afford to properly fund care for our elderly, we can't afford to shelter people escaping from tyranny and threat of death, we can't afford libraries or schools but we can afford to bomb the ever living crap out of people half way across the world who represent no immediate threat to us on the say so of people who have proved in the past to be no better than guessing.
