I thought it was the Dark Lord?

There's obviously nothing money can't buy in this country. I'm gonna start looking for somewhere else to live (and file share ;) )

What happens if you are sharing a Linux distro, and a portion of that falls under some copyright/patent issue?

Quote:
"This does not necessarily mean that suspension would be used - this step would obviously be a very serious sanction as it would affect all members of a household equally, and might disrupt access to other communications, so it should be regarded as very much a last resort," the Government claims in a statement.

Yeah, right.

All very well until some faceless, jumped-up little Hitler decides to interpret the rules in his own way and cut off Doris's connection forever because her grandson downloaded the latest track from <insert latest vapid, talentless, here-today-gone-tomorrow plastic band> while visiting for the weekend.

It's guidelines like that that lead to counter-terrorism laws being used to spy on people's waste disposal activities.

what a pile of bollox. The only way the will know what you are doing is to snoop in your line, and that just aint cricket!!!!!

Fudge off and leave us alone, you are a bunch of idiots who I bet has a TechGuy agreement with PCworld and call them everyday because your coffee holder won't come out of your laptop. Instead of asking an independent professional body to advise you on these matters (one that isn't linked with the good ol' guys the media labels) you will do nothing about file sharing. People will ultimately use encrypted proxies to bypass your outdated systems that BT has been using for donkeys years.

Rant over

He's both really, but they don't work together when you type 'em ;)

I believe Our Man In Spain can advise you on moving and file sharing there at least :)

They don't need to go anywhere near your line, just look at what you are freely publishing in the Internet...

Laughable proposals and very easy to circumvent.

Once again our politicians show their lack of knowledge on how the net works.

Who cares, as long as some "file sharers" are seen to be caught and the music/film industry get to impose example-setting fines?

Muppets.

We should all use it and maybe they will realise all their hard work has been for nothing.

Government hits back over file-sharing clampdown

http://www.pcpro.co.uk/news/351151/gove ... -clampdown

I still suspect this is a big song and dance that won't go anywhere in the long run...
