I consider filibustering to be anti-democratic. It is, essentially, preventing representatives of the people from making a firm decision on an issue, one that their constituents may feel very strongly about. If you don't like a proposal, vote against it and convince other members to vote against it if you can. if your arguments are strong, the measure will not be passed. This just suggests he had no actual argument against it worth a damn, so his only tactic was to stop the vote happening at all.
Also, I strongly suspect the photo at the top of the story is going to come back to haunt him at the next election.
