Cameron hasn’t the faintest idea how deep his cuts go

In leaked correspondence with the Conservative leader of Oxfordshire county council (which covers his own constituency), David Cameron expresses his horror at the cuts being made to local services. This is the point at which you realise that he has no conception of what he has done.

The letters were sent in September, but came to light only on Friday, when they were revealed by the Oxford Mail. The national media has been remarkably slow to pick the story up, given the insight it offers into the prime minister’s detachment from the consequences of his actions.

It's not surprising that it's true but it's a bit surprising it's got so bad someone in a tory council was willing to leak it.

It's pretty damning.

What is surprising is, as stated, the lack of coverage by mainstream media. It's of little surprise that a rabid liberal activist like Monbiot would ferret it out, but a juicy piece like that being almost ignored in the midst of Gideon's benefit cuts frenzy?

Not only that, but Oxford council covers Witney, which is Cameron's constituency. :-)

Cameron is possibly in breach of ministerial code as well.

Quote:
Labour has written to Cabinet Secretary Sir Jeremy Heywood suggesting the prime minister's letter may have breached the ministerial code, because [Oxfordshire council leader] Mr Hudspeth was invited to meet the No 10 policy unit regarding budget cuts.

Shadow minister without portfolio Jon Ashworth said the code requires ministers to "keep separate their roles" in government and as constituency members.
