Likely result of government funding review.

For a total of 68,000 job losses in total. Chief constables are now saying they think our ability to stop or react to a terrorist attack similar to those in Paris will be 'materially affected'.

Remember though, these are cuts entirely at the whim of the people who said 'The Labour Party is now a threat to our national security, our economic security and your family's security.'

How long before a minister says we should consider private security firms?

Wasn't that last week?

I thought there was a story on here last week or the week before, that they were stopping patrols up north somewhere and people should use private security forces?

If they can speak German, our local station is looking for more staff (and a bigger building) to cope with the influx of refugees. The standard "company" car is a VW Passat Combi.

Yeah, but that's the Tory wet dream endgame.

The in laws, who live in Frinton have been asked to contribute to a private policing scheme. The people doing the plod work won't have much by way of powers.

They will have no more powers (on public land) that you or me

I believe they're effectively the same as Community Support Officers (or CHIMPS as they were affectionately known), funding for which has been withdrawn because austerity. So in other words they have no more powers than you or I, they'll just be wearing a uniform. Should they actually do anything approaching policing they'll more than likely be breaking the law themselves. so I wouldn't bother giving them any money, frankly.
