Welby bids to defuse Church of England’s ‘demographic time bomb’ | World news | The Guardian

If the silly bastards wanna modernise it'd be an idea to get out into the community and do it in a way that isn't ramming God down people's throats. Speaking of which, how about you make one definitive statement about the paedos... and women. And abortion, and...

Oh, but we have the ramming God down our throat here already. Every Saturday one of the more evangelical God bothering brigades is up to something. The best is the rapper who basically sounds like "rant rant rant rant Jesus rant rant rant rant Jesus rant rant..." If you want to gain an audience, he's probably not going about it right.

My all time favourite was opening the front door one Saturday or Sunday morning (quite early) and the first thing out of the persons mouth was 'The Apocalypse?' and a proffered pamphlet.
IIRC my response was 'Not today thank you' and shut the door.

There's an evangelical church group in town and they quite often hand out leaflets in the city centre at the weekend and there can be rather loud (and impressively out of tune) singing sometimes as well.

My best one was many years ago when I was living in Birmingham (well someone had to)

Anyway one morning there was a knock on the door and we were told that there was a local Satanist cult operating in Sutton Coldfield and that we needed to be saved. We ask the woman if they (the Cultist) provided chickens for sacrifice or did we have to bring our own – she was not happy
