Sounds more like something from a Harry Potter fanfic.

Aren't there traditionally two undershaft I'll get me coat. On a more serious note, God that looks dull. Also, I can't say it occurred to me there was a height limit on London buildings. How very depressing.

That building is not my cup of tea, at all.

Munich has an old law, that no building can be taller than the Frauenkirche (99 Metres).

Wasn't that always the challenge with the old Hong Kong airport, having to fit into a narrow gap between the mountains and sky scrapers?

I had assumed it was something to with planes and I guess since the 11th of September attacks there is an even greater desire to not have planes going near tall buildings. But surely there are some parts of London that aren't near flight paths (or sufficiently far away at least) that taller building would be permitted.

Yup and IIRC there were tyre marks on one of the skyscrapers where some planes wheels had touched them

I'd like to see the shadow forecast from that tower, I think large swathes of the city will never see daylight again. Also it's going to get pretty windy around there. Engineers do all these calcs on comfort, solar gains etc to maximise the design of buildings, and 2 years later it gets ruined by a massive tower next door.

That's the joy of progress I guess. Big cities wouldn't be as interesting if their skylines didn't evolve over time.
