I would expect that they were using the same technique as they have been using over here for the last year, pump the machine full of gas and light it up, it blows out the walls of the ATM and you get at the money vault.

They have started fitting the money tray in the ATMs with a dye packet, so that if it is blown up suffers extreme vibrations the dye will explode and render the cash useless.
