Can’t stand award shows so didn’t watch it. Load of self-congratulator luvvies handing out shiny things. It]s pretty much Graham Norton’s show in a bigger theatre.

Stephen Fry has quit Twitter before, and come back. We know he’s bi-polar, which can cause extreme reactions, and he’s clearly easily unsettled.

That Stephen Fry has again left Twitter is not news.
That one celebrity made a joke about another celebrity (and that both celebrities apparently know eachother in the real world) and who got the joke is not news.
There's a wider issue here, and just because someone finds something a little against their personal tastes, it does not always warrant a lynching.
People need to calm down and stop going on witch hunts for any and every little thing they find objectional.

There is this huge public reaction against things that they have little or no understanding about. It's the sort of thing that serves to remind me that most people, to all intents and purposes, are stupid.

I think once more, if you make in-jokes with your mates in public, you look like a dick. Not everyone knows your story.
