Let's see -

go to university, get massive debt, never get to buy a house, probably never get to retire, die.
Don't go to university, get a mcjob, never get to buy a house, probably never get to retire, die.

No, absolutely not. But there's general agreement that the younger you are - whatever your background - the less likely it is you'll be able to afford to buy a house and the only way you may get out of renting is to inherit one.
