He’s probably right about the one party state bit now, but I think we’d like to know why the word “Peace” has been dropped when the media refer to him as just “Middle East Envoy” these days, because it appears things went very well for him in that role. You know, before he starts to tinker with home affairs again.

If he does try to get back into politics it'll be interesting to see which party he ends up in.
I imagine he might struggle to be selected as a Labour candidate while Crobyn and Momentum are in the ascendant.

He never left politics. He just left parliament. Or did I just imagine him pitching up during the labour leadership election and telling The Guardian he'd rather have a conservative government than a labour one with Corbyn in charge? And in the end how many people listened to him about that? And if he doesn't hold much sway in the labour party, how much sway is he going to hold with people who never voted for him in the past anyway? He may want to be relevant in in British politics again, but the fact is he isn't and he won't be.

There are two things that might possibly happen here

a) The NEC might try to parachute him into a safe constituency, almost certainly against the wishes of the local CLP, either because they're Corbyn supporters (most of them) or because they wouldn't like to be utterly undermined in this way (ALL of them). At which point all hell would break loose.

b) He might join another party, most like the Liberal Democrats. At which point everyone will laugh at him.

There is no possible way Blair could get back into parliament that won't be ether an obvious stitch up, a farce, or both. If he has even one single crumb of sense left he'll leave it well alone.
