I find myself loathe to mock tbh. He's clearly a man with some significant mental health issues, and they can be right [LIFTED] to deal with.

From what I've read he hasn't done himself any favours. He's a complete workaholic and frequently does 48 hours straight without any sleep. He's not a Doctor who has to work those hours and frankly if he can't be bothered to look after himself (and he has a family that depends on him) then it's hardly surprising this has happened. _________________Still the official cheeky one

Well that would certainly count as one of the hallmarks of manic depression. If you've not seen Stephen Fry's documentary on the subject it's well worth watching.
