Quote:
The French company that owns Peugeot and Citroen has struck a 2.2bn euro (£1.9bn) deal to buy General Motors' European unit, including Vauxhall.

GM Europe has not made a profit since 1999 and the deal has raised fears about job losses at Vauxhall.

Can]t help thinking that this is the moro industry starting to regroup before the inevitable takes place. They were talking about nationalising the plants on the news - I wonder what they would build? Will someone raid the old Morris plan chests and revive a few old classics?

On the other hand, one of the biggest criticisms of GM Europe in the last 2 decades, is that they lost touch with their European customers and were too US focused in their models. Not meaning they were making cars for the US market, but too much US influence in the EU cars was making them unattractive here.

Given the range of funky designs that PSA come out with, it could be a good movel for Opel and Vauxhall.

GM restricted Opel from selling large volumes to the chinese market. Whith that restriction going, there could be growth and profit for Opel yet.
