Joachim Gauk has stepped aside and the new President, Frank-Walter Steinmeier moved into the Bellvue Palace last night. He will be officially sworn into office this week.

A big party, full of pomp, was held to see Gauk off at the end of last week. Last night was a formal, but small handover of the palace.
